Ah, well

Last night, Daddy Al called and cancelled out on the trip that he and Agent J’s sister, Linda, were going to make here this weekend.

I was 99% sure that they wouldn’t come anyway. They’ve cancelled the last 5 trips they’ve scheduled. It’s really not a big disappointment to me, but I hate the fact that they keep doing this to J. He’s been preparing for their visit for the past two weeks now.

The reason this time is that Al said he wasn’t feeling well enough to travel, and that he thought he might be coming down with a cold. However, he is on the phone with J. right now talking about the shopping trip he took to Wal-Mart today and various other things he did out and about town. Grrrrr.

I have no idea what’s going on in the weird little minds of his family or why they do crap like this. I think I prefer to remain in the dark about it, too. Unless what they do really starts to hurt J’s feelings, then you better believe they are going to hear my mouth.

Since I had the day off from school (it was a local college “free day”) and the out-laws were no longer headed our way, I went out and did some pre-holiday browsing. I’d love to get the Christmas shopping done by the middle of November, and then have all of it shipped out to various points on the globe the week after Thanksgiving. That would be sooo good. Then we could just relax and have a nice holiday at home.

There are two stores that I now realize I should never go into if I am in a buying mood and I have the extra cash with me – Pier 1 and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I was finding great stuff that I was convinced I needed every time I went down a new aisle in each of those stores. Actually, it was a bit confusing for me, because I usually hate to shop.

I’ve heard other people say this before and I am starting to think it may be true: The more money you make, the more things you will find to spend it on.

It may be a good idea to start having a portion of my check automatically deposited into the savings account – before I even get a chance to spend it on a whim.

However, one purchase that may be a true necessity is a very thin LCD computer monitor. No matter what I do, I cannot keep these two clowns off of the current one, and they are getting big enough now to be able to rock the thing like a boat! Plus, they jump from the top of it down onto my scanner, which I’m sure can’t be a good thing.
